Koi Digital Ltd is a Māori-owned entertainment and technology company based in Rotorua, NZ.
Our work is based around innovative collaboration between experts from diverse fields – spanning history, culture, traditional arts, technology, business and design.
We are passionate about Te Ao Māori, and the opportunity to create social change by bringing indigenous concepts and narratives to popular culture.
FLAGSHIP PROJECT:
Titans of Aotearoa
Titans of Aotearoa (T.O.A.) brings a world of Māori heroes and mythology to audiences in Aotearoa and around the world, beginning with an action-adventure video game series.
The first T.O.A. release is set in Te-Moana-nui-a-kiwa during the Pacific migration era, with gameplay from the perspective of fictional lead character Toa.
To kick off the T.O.A. world we collaborated with a hugely talented team of artists to create a 3-part sizzle reel, introducing characters and settings based around different poignant moments in Polynesian history, myth and legend.
We are now in early stages of design, concept development and prototyping for the first T.O.A. title.

The final act of our Titans Of Aotearoa trailer. Released on 11th Nov, the 100-year anniversary of the signing of the Armistice agreement that officially ended WW1. Aotearoa/NZ's small country sent a significant contribution to this war. It included a unique battalion of Māori and Pacifica soldiers called the Native/Māori contingent.

Rio has over 20 years of experience as a leading creative in NZ’s music and entertainment sector – publishing award-winning original music and performing internationally. He is the lead vision-holder for Koi Digital’s Titans of Aotearoa original IP.

Kristy Mayes

NZ Pākehā – of Celtic, German, and Portuguese descent
Kristy is a multi-disciplinary creative with 20 years of design and tech experience in NZ’s cultural sector. She previously led the design team for Te Ara – Encyclopedia of New Zealand at Ministry for Culture and Heritage / Manatū Taonga.
